Some people are great at making their home a sanctuary that they can escape into and emerge from feeling rejuvenated and refreshed, but for others, the home actually does the opposite because of lifestyle dynamics. Here are some simple ways you can do just that:

Set the Atmosphere

If you can’t dedicate your whole house and transform it into a spa, at least try to focus on one room that you can decorate so that you have a place to slip away and relax. The trick is in setting the atmosphere. You might not be able to get a cool pedicure spa chair, but you can place things in your space to set the ambiance and make it an atmosphere that will leave you feeling great and like you’re laying on some beach somewhere without a care in the world.

Maybe it’s a bathroom, and maybe it’s a bedroom, but whatever room it is, get some candles, get some essential oils burning in a diffuser. Think about getting a humidifier and a put on some relaxing sounds that make you feel like you’re out in nature. You might live in the middle of a city, but that doesn’t mean your house can’t feel like a spa.

Stock Up On the Grooming Products

One of the perks of a spa is that you get to pamper yourself. Mud Masks, facials, massages, oil treatments, etc. If you want to transform your house to the point where it feels like a spa, don’t be afraid to splurge a bit on the grooming products. Build shelves to hold all of your beauty products, and even consider bringing in professionals in-home to entreat you to a massage or another service.

Embrace the Right Color Scheme

There is a psychology behind colors, so when you’re decorating your house, you’ll want to pay attention to color and how they make you feel. Reds, while warm, are often a bit agitating. Blues and greens are relaxing and calming. Look into the palate you want to be based on the emotions you’d like to feel when you’re home, and you’ll be that much closer to having a home that feels and looks like a spa.
