Interior Design Ideas to Enhance Your New Conservatory

The interior design of your new conservatory can be difficult to get just right. Many people install them and let their beauty down by using the wrong materials and furniture for the job. You see; they are not like other rooms in the house and you must take different things into account. There will be powerful sunlight coming through the glass, that could damage expensive wooden furniture and fabrics, for example. It is also a gateway to the garden, and there are likely to be dirty shoes going in and out of the room. That dirt might ruin an expensive carpet.

If you have just added one to your home, here are some interior design ideas to enhance your new conservatory.

Flooring Matters

There are three products commonly found in conservatories. Each has its merits, and we will take a look at them now.

  • Ceramic tiles, as long as they are high-quality, will last for the life of the structure. They are an obvious choice in countries where the summers are long and the winters mild. In the UK, we seem to get more cold weather than hot, so ask yourself if they are the best choice. When they are down, they are difficult to change. If the design of your choosing goes out of fashion, it is a messy and expensive product to replace.
  • Laminate flooring is available everywhere these days, and it has advantages over ceramic tiles. It too is durable and will last for many years, but if you want to change it at any time, it is easy to lift. You can replace it in about a day without much fuss or mess. It is not as cold underfoot as ceramic either; warm toes are essential, in my opinion.
  • Vinyl gives the room a commercial look. It is perfect for an ultra-modern setting or places that dirty often. It is easy to mop clean, so it’s ideal for a home with pets.

Your room needs shade so that it does not become uncomfortable. There are ready made blinds available to suit almost every window. They make the conservatory look classy and stylish if you use the right ones. Here are a few tips.

  • Vertical blinds are ideal for the side windows. You can open, angle, or drape them as the situation dictates.
  • Pleated blinds look fantastic on the roof. There are some electrically operated versions available, to make your neighbours jealous.
  • Venetian and wooden blinds are easy to install and allow you to regulate the light levels efficiently.

On a hot day, you need to circulate the air in the room. There are many ceiling fans available to do the job, and many of them cost little. Beware that the cheaper models are unlikely to run silent for long. You often find that they start ticking as they rotate and are annoying to say the least. Portable air conditioners are available nowadays, but it costs just as much to cool the room as it does to heat it; they are not cheap to run.

Now you know how to make the most of your conservatory. As a last word think about using rattan furniture in there. It is all the rage at the moment, and there are some stunning examples out there. That’s all for today guys, I hope you create an incredible space.
