Making Your Home Magazine Worthy

Making Your Home Magazine Worthy

When it comes to decorating your home, you may find yourself inspired by all of the home magazines you pick up at the store, and maybe even inspired by your favorite reality TV shows. You can use that inspiration to create a beautiful home that not only makes you happy, but also makes you the envy of all your friends.

So how do you create an enviable home? Well, it starts with organizational skills and ends with the right furniture and decor. Here are some tips to help you get started.

Get Rid Of Clutter

Having a magazine worthy home starts with having a clutter free home. If you have too much stuff and not enough room for it, it may be time to go through your belongings and let some things go. There are a few ways to do this.

Start by having three piles for stuff. You’ll need one for the things you want to keep, one for stuff you want to get rid of, and one for items that are no longer usable (as in garbage). Toss items that are ripped, stained, and broken.

Items that you no longer want or need, but someone else could still use, can go in a pile to donate or sell. There are plenty of options for selling, from online to having a yard sale. The rest will get put away as you start the organization process.

Organize Your Home

Everything you own should have a place to go. If things you have a shell, drawer, or cupboard, then you will have a better control over your clutter. The other way to keep control over your clutter is to make sure that you always put stuff away where it belong s whenever it isn’t in use.

Organizing means having shelving, it means having a dresser for your clothing, and it means having hangers for your closet.

Pick the Perfect Furnishings

Once your home is clean and organized you can start looking at your furnishings. If you want something magazine ready you may want to opt for modern furniture, or vintage. It depends on the look you want. Boho chic comes with some great vintage items, and maybe some of your own DIY work.

Paint and Décor

Once you have your rooms furnished, from the perfect canopy bed to a nice cushioned couch in the living room, you can start decorating around them. Pick art that matches your furnishing. Add some accent rugs to make colors pop.

You can add an accent wall to your home, which will also add to the appeal. You can even make a smaller room look larger with lighter colored walls.

Whether your home is large or small, you can make it looks like it belongs on the cover of a magazine. You just need to keep it organized, get some matching colors, and be up-to-date on the style of home decor!
