Ways to Keep Your Vacation Memories Close

Ways to Keep Your Vacation Memories Close

No vacation is complete without some sort of souvenir or some way to save the memories. For many people souvenirs are just a costly way to add clutter to your home. Plus, if you are vacationing with more than one child you need to buy each of them a souvenir of their own.

Here are a few different ways to capture the memories of your vacation and what you can do to keep them close at hand once you are home and your fun vacation is just a distant memory.

Buy A Small Souvenir

Small sized souvenirs, like magnets, spoons, postcards and thimbles are usually a more manageable price, especially if you need to buy more than one, so they make a good option for capturing the memory of a vacation.

Display magnets on the refrigerator, or better yet, decorate a round pizza tin sheet and hang it on the wall with your magnets. This is a great way to display souvenir travel magnet collections in children’s rooms too.

Frame postcards or keep them in a scrapbook that is really easy to flip through. Thimbles and collector spoons can be displayed on specialized shelves. You can even create collages with your collected items in glass jars or shadow boxes.

Larger Souvenir Ideas

If you are a t-shirt kind of person and find yourself collecting them on your vacations, there is something you can do with them to have them out so people can see, even after they are no longer something you wear.

Have them made into pillows or a throw for your couch. It’s a great way to recycle t-shirts that hold too many memories to let go of. Also makes a great blanket and pillow to take with you on future vacations.

Take A Lot Of Photos

If your vacation has you doing something new, like going on a cruise for the first time or finally learning how to ski with the family, you are going to want something more than just a sill magnet souvenir.

Take a decent camera with you, or at least a great smartphone, so you can take a lot of photos of all the things you see and, of course, of the people you are seeing it with. This is by far the best way to capture the memories of your vacation.

But what do you do with all the photos once you have them? Get prints made to frame and hang on the wall, put them in scrapbooks, put them on CD-ROM to share with everyone that went, or the entire family.

There are so many ways to keep the memories of all of your vacations alive and this gives you a chance to look back and remember the fun times.
